This past weekend Mike & I were able to go to Seattle to cross off one of my bucket list goals - seeing the musical "Wicked." Marianne & Jim stayed with Cal so we were able to enjoy the weekend by ourselves - it was such a relaxing getaway!
We were able to tour one of Mike's relatives home in Bellevue. It was really fun to meet some of his family and see a beautiful home right on the sound!
A beautiful pathway through their yard that shows the view they have of the sound! Seems like a postcard.
Cute dock & boat
Some artwork they've designed in the backyard - this represents a missile hitting the earth
Sweet playhouse in the trees
Beautiful gardens all over - you can tell someone works hard!!

My favorite person in the whole world : )
After we took the tour we went down to Lisa's and saw her apartment. She also showed us around her work, Big Fish (it was right across the street from her apartment - pretty nice set up)!
She treated us to a delicious dinner at "Chinooks" which is a seafood restaurant right on the harbor.
The apartments where Lisa lives
The view from the bridge that crosses the street from her apartment / office building
There's a view from the other direction

Mike & I both love college campuses so we spent the next morning exploring the campus of the University of Washington. It was really cool & later we learned that Mike's Grandpa had graduated from this University so that was sweet!
Had to stop and see the football stadium, naturally!
Driving past Safeco field, home of the Mariners.
We also went and explored Mt. Rainier - this is probably one of the beautiful mountains I've ever seen!
Here you can see the snow-capped summit behind us
Driving up the road with these huge pine trees surrounding us
We took a walk on the "Grove of Patriarchs" trail. Some of these trees are thousands of years old!
This is the river carved canyon... it looks like a waterfall but I am actually leaning over a bridge to get this view - canyon was 115 ft deep I believe.
Lake Louise
Clearly it was a romantic spot : )
These waterfalls are called "Narada Falls"
The next day we went to the Paramount theater and saw "Wicked." It was fabulous - I enjoyed every second. The music from wicked is some of my favorite and that was before I had seen the show, now I love it even more! It was such a treat to see a show like this!!
Woo hoo!! Crossing something off my bucket list!!
Inside of the theater was soooo beautiful! It was built in the 1920's and you can tell it's old by the attention to detail in every aspect.
Here is a picture of it just after it was built
There was an old player piano there that was sweet... it was the same one that played in the theater when it first opened. Back then it was worth 5000 (which equates to 65,000 in our day - whew).
The stage!!
After the play we went and walked around Pikes Market with Kim, a good friend from high school. She and her fiancee are living in Seattle and she sings in the opera up there. It was so fun to catch up and see her again!!
Sunday morning we figured was an appropriate time to drive by the temple! Unfortunately we couldn't do a session because it was closed for maintenance (the Vancouver one was also closed! Terrible luck).
Mike looking very reflective
Our last stop was the Museum of Flight. Mike was like a kid in a candy shop. I love walking through these things with him because he can usually describe what we're looking at without even reading the plaque. He's in his element here!
This place was huge. This was just one of the buildings that had planes - there was a space center, a WWI and WWII building, and a building that described the origins of aviation and a lot about the Boeing company.
They also had the Air Force One from the 60's that we got to walk on, as well as a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which would be pretty dang nice to fly on!
We loved our little trip and I am so sad that it was short and we are already back to the daily grind. Thankful for opportunities like these to travel and explore the world with my best friend!
