This past week brought out two of the funnest southern boys I have ever met (they also happen to be my nephews, lucky me)!
So after just a few days between Dan & Krystal's trip we were exploring the island again, with JP and Devan.
JP just graduated high school, and Devan is just about to start that adventure. They were so funny and reminded me of how Mike and Dan most likely were at those ages.
They had a lot of energy (this makes me feel old) it was hard to keep up with them. We squeezed a lot in the week they were here!
Here are some of the highlights...
Adventures at Bellows!
There was a hammerhead swimming near the shore when we got there, so the lifeguards told us we had to wait awhile before we got in... Yeah, that wasn't happening for me.
While we were waiting, JP got his foot stuck in the sand, and Devan was throwing sand at him laughing because JP couldn't do anything about it. And because I am such a great aunt, I didn't let this moment pass by without the video camera...
This is the moment right before JP's foot came free and he owned Devan for throwing sand! I can't get the video to upload, but needless to say the score was even by the time we left the beach.
Sunday night we just relaxed and walked around Waikiki beach. We saw some cool guys juggling fire sticks, and ate delicious malasadas!
THE FARRELL'S CHALLENGE!!
Can't believe we ate 30 scoops of ice cream! That huge bowl of sugary goodness is the Honolulu Zoo, and we OWNED it!
We all felt like we had food babies after.
We ate ourselves into a food coma that night. But it was worth it.
To work off the calories... we did Diamond Head Hike the next day! I almost died going up the stairs. I don't recommend eating all that ice cream and hiking the next morning.
We were also able to go to Pearl Harbor and visit the USS Arizona.
Devan is pointing out the Lakin brothers (family members) on the wall of names.
The boys on the Arizona Memorial, with the Battleship Missouri in the background.
We went shopping at the swap meet. Mike was really excited because he found an Alabama lei. Those were the coolest swap meet guys ever!
At Germaine's luau JP was the best hula girl around!! I don't know why, but his coconut bra was so small.. I could not stop laughing! He was such a great hula dancer and made us all laugh with his sweet moves.
WAIMEA FALLS
We went on a little jaunt to see these pretty falls. Devan and JP swam in the water... Mike sat in the shady trees. It was such a nice afternoon.
JP and Mike taking time to smell the roses!
SHARK ADVENTURES!
JP and Devan went on the shark tour, and went in the water with these bad boys! It's crazy because these sharks are swimming about a mile off shore from where they are teaching surfing lessons.
It was a fun week getting to know the boys, I am so glad they came out here. Next time we'll have to go to Georgia and see them! Thanks to Mama M for making such a fun trip happen!!
Your blog is my favorite to read! I have always been obsessed with the ocean, and I just love hearing about the fun things you get to do.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kaylyn!! I love keeping a little journal of our adventures (cause I'm not so good at regular journaling!) I'm glad you enjoy it. : )
