Okay so I left off on Day 7..
It was Sunday that day, and I mostly documented the day except for that evening. I have some awesome cousins that got stationed here and live with their family in Fort Shafter. We had game night with the Burnett's and they fed all of us a yummy dinner. Mike gets to work with two of their sons in YM, and we taught the youngest in Primary. It has been so fun getting to know them better and we were grateful they let us come over for dinner!
Day 8
The boys really wanted to play Racquetball, so we decided to do a girls/boys day. Krystal and I went shopping, had some lunch, and explored some of the beaches on the west side of Oahu.
This is "Pray for Sex" beach. On that rock someone spray painted the words pray for sex, and I guess the name just stuck! It was really beautiful up there and we had a fun time exploring!
We reunited with the boys for a movie night and watched "Descendants" which was filmed here on Oahu. It was a really good show! (Sad, though Dan tricked Krystal into watching it by saying it was a "dramady" :) )
Day 9
We went to Koa Pancake House for breakfast. Dan really enjoyed his red velvet pancakes, Krystal was less impressed with her omelet. And when I say "less impressed" I mean she could barely eat it because it was so disgusting. But, bless her heart, she choked it down anyway!
We went to the Laie Temple that morning. It was a beautiful day, and we really enjoyed the session.
We went home and changed into our hiking clothes after and got ready to hike Stairway to Heaven! This hike has been made illegal, and they put a guard in front of the stairs for most of the day (neighbors in the area complain about the hikers being loud). So we had attempted to hike it a few days prior, arriving at about 4 am at the mountain, only to be turned away by the guard! So we decided to try our luck later in the day, and sure enough, we were able to do the hike!!
The beautiful views of Kailua/Kaneohe Bay from the platform!
Inspirational little messages all along the way!
The majestic Kualoa Mountain Range right behinds us.
Krystal - at the top was very excited to have made it!
Going down the stairs was a little trickier than going up!
Dan was clinging to the rail for dear life
We went home and since none of us wanted to do anything that required any energy after the hike, we ordered pizza and watched "50 First Dates" (Another Oahu film).
Day 10
We took a fun tour in Waianae to see dolphins and go snorkeling! There were tons of spinner dolphins doing tricks and swimming right around our boat!
They were so cute and there were even some baby ones!! I told Mike I wanted to get a dolphin for a pet, but he said no. :)
Waianae shoreline is beautiful. Our tour guide pointed out his high school and said it was the only high school in the U.S. right on the beach. How sweet would that be?!
When the group went snorkeling our guide found an octopus He was pretty disgusting and put the octopus in his mouth!! *insert barfing noises* Then he set it free. Krystal said she feels bad for whoever has to kiss that guy, and I agree.
The rest of the days...
Because I don't remember exactly the chronological order of the rest of the trip, I am just going to put the highlights in no particular order! These are the rest of the fun activities and events that happened for the last 5 days they were here!
Hilo Hatties trip! The largest shirt in the world, according to Guinness World Records.
Dan and Krystal were at the Polynesian Cultural Center when this rainbow appeared outside our house! I have never seen one this big so far. It was gorgeous.
We spent more time on Bellows swimming and just relaxing. We rented Bocci balls, and had a fun game in the shade. Dan and Mike both wooed us with their juggling skills.
We also did an AWESOME kayaking trip to Chinaman's hat! I loved it. It was so fun to finally see what the other side of the hat looked like!
This is the back side! There is a fun little beach there, and Mike snorkeled. It was really rough that day, so he said he wasn't able to see too much. I loved walking around the tide pools and seeing some of the sea life in there!
Dan & Krystal are pros at the jump pictures.
The secret cave
Hiking around the top (they wouldn't let us go all the way to the tippy top, but it's okay because that looked a little scary to me anyway)!
The last night Dan & Krystal were here we went on a Sunset Dinner cruise in Waikiki. It was such a lovely night.
Dan & Krystal all ready to go on their hot date
Here we are in front of our ship, the Star of Honolulu
Dinner was steak, potatoes, and unlimited crab legs. We were pretty happy campers.
After dinner we explored and walked around the deck.
Here is our beautiful view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head
Another Sunset in paradise
Sailing into the harbor, right by the Aloha Clock Tower.
We were so sad that our fun vacation time had come to an end, but so grateful we were able to spend two weeks together! We got almost everything accomplished on the list that Dan & Krystal had made!
We loved the visit and hopefully we will be together again soon!
Aloha 'oe!
